I remember clearly a time when I was walking on the sea front of Weymouth Bay and I saw a man wearing a board walked up to me and gave me a small booklet.  The booklet was titled "Knowing God Personally"  I read it and kept it but did not give my life to Christ at this point.

About a year after this I met my wife to be and was introduced to Rev. Mike Stear of St John's Church, Weymouth and he led us to Christ using his own booklet "Knowing God Personally."

This coincidence will probably not mean much to you but I knew at that moment God knew me personally. 

At this time I was also going through a rough time in my life as my mum, dad, nana and sister died over a four year period.  I was heartbroken losing my family and at times felt depressed and suicidal.  However, one day when I was at rock bottom, I felt something deep inside welling up to the surface into a whisper and the voice said:

I later found in the bible: Jesus says "Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels".  Mar 8:35-38

After a couple of years in Weymouth we were called by God to leave Weymouth and move to Doncaster in South Yorkshire.  Since our move some folk have said Why on earth have you moved to Doncaster" or in a usual Donny style "You must be mad."

God says: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land". 2Ch 7:14
